Standard Rentals vs. Buy Outright vs. Trip Plans

This policy describes billing for standard month-to-month rentals (sections 2–8 below). Buy Outright purchases are a single one-time charge at checkout with no recurring billing at all; this policy doesn't apply to them. Trip Plans (a fixed-window rental booked for a specific trip) are also a single flat charge for the whole window, not a recurring monthly charge. See section 9 for how Trip Plan billing actually works.

2

What You're Charged at Checkout

When you place a standard rental order, you're charged immediately for the first month's rental fee for each piece (with any multi-piece discount applied) and a one-time handling fee, which covers one-way outbound shipping. Your $75 refundable protection hold is also authorized at this time (this is a hold, not a charge, and doesn't add to what you're billed).

3

Rolling Billing, Not Calendar-Month Billing

Each piece you rent is billed on its own rolling 30-day cycle, starting from the date you placed that order, not on a fixed calendar-month schedule. If you rent a second piece two weeks after your first, that second piece has its own independent 30-day billing clock starting from when you added it.

4

Multi-Piece Discounts

Renting more than one piece at a time qualifies for a discount on your combined monthly total. The exact discount is shown at checkout before you confirm your order and scales with how many pieces you're actively renting.

5

How Charges Are Processed

Charges are processed automatically to your saved payment method through Stripe. You'll receive an email receipt after each successful charge.

6

If a Charge Fails

If a monthly charge fails (e.g., an expired card), we'll email you and prompt you in the app to update your payment method. Continuing to have no valid payment method on file for an extended period is treated the same as a past-due account under the Rental Terms' Non-Return and Default section.

7

When Billing Stops

Billing for a given piece stops as soon as you submit a return request for it or complete a buyout of it, whichever comes first. Your first 30 days on any piece are billed upfront and non-refundable regardless of when you return it.

8

No Fixed Subscription Term

There's no fixed-length subscription and no auto-renewing "plan" in the traditional sense: each piece you rent bills independently, for as long as you keep it, and you're never locked into a longer commitment than the 30-day minimum per piece.

9

Trip Plans: A Different Billing Model

A Trip Plan is billed differently from a standard rental: you pay one flat price up front for the entire trip window at booking, not a recurring monthly charge, and there's no $75 protection hold. Nothing bills again after that initial charge, and there's no ongoing billing to stop when the trip ends: you simply return the pieces by the return-by date shown in your account (see the Return Policy, section 13). You can still buy out any piece from a Trip Plan instead of returning it, charged separately at that time. See the Buyout Policy.
