Rentals vs. Buy Outright Purchases vs. Trip Plans

This policy has three parts. If you rented an item month-to-month, sections 2–9 below explain how to ship it back and when billing stops. If you used Buy Outright to purchase an item directly (no rental first), none of the shipping-back steps apply to you; see section 10 for your 30-day return window instead. If you booked a Trip Plan (a fixed-window rental for a specific trip), see section 13. It works differently from both.

2

When You Can Return a Rental

You can request a return at any time. There's no need to wait for a fixed rental term to end. Your item just needs to have completed the 30-day minimum rental period before returning it stops your billing.

3

How to Start a Return

In the app or on the website: go to your account, find the active rental, and tap or click "Return." By email: email returns@davenportwardrobe.com with your order number. Either way, we'll email you a prepaid return shipping label within 24 hours.

4

Shipping the Item Back

Once you have your label, ship the item back within 21 days. Package it reasonably. The original packaging isn't required, but the item should be protected in transit the way you'd pack anything you were shipping.

5

Condition on Return

Items should come back in the condition you received them, accounting for normal wear. Normal wear is expected and doesn't affect your return. See the Damage & Lost Items Policy for what counts as damage beyond normal wear.

6

When Billing Stops

Your first 30 days are billed upfront and are non-refundable, no matter when you return the item within that window. After day 30, billing stops as soon as you submit your return request. You are not charged for time between your return request and the item physically arriving back at Davenport.

7

Refund Requests (Rentals)

If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@davenportwardrobe.com with your order number. Refund requests are reviewed within 3–5 business days. Approved refunds are credited back to your original payment method. Refunds are not available for charges more than 30 days old.

8

What Happens After We Receive Your Return

Once your returned item arrives, it's inspected for damage and cleaned before it re-enters the rental catalog. If no damage beyond normal wear is found, your $75 protection hold is released. See the Card Hold / No-Deposit Policy.

9

Multiple Items in One Order

If your order included more than one piece, you can return them together or separately: return whichever pieces you're done with, whenever you're done with them. Billing for each piece stops independently based on when that specific piece's return is requested.

10

Buy Outright Purchases: Your 30-Day Return Window

Buy Outright is a one-time purchase, not a rental: there's no monthly billing to stop and no shipping label to request. If you change your mind, contact support@davenportwardrobe.com with your order number within 30 days of purchase to request a refund. There's no requirement to ship the item back first. Refund requests are reviewed within 3–5 business days and, if approved, credited back to your original payment method. Refunds are not available for requests made more than 30 days after purchase.

11

Not Returning a Rental

If you decide you'd rather keep a rented item than return it, you can buy it outright at any time instead. See the Buyout Policy. If a rented item is simply never returned and never bought out, see the Rental Terms' Non-Return and Default section for what happens after 90 days.

Trip Plans: A Different Return Process

A Trip Plan is a fixed-window rental booked from a packing list for a specific trip: it's neither a standard month-to-month rental nor a Buy Outright purchase, and its return process is different from both. There's no 30-day minimum and no billing to stop: you pay one flat price up front for the whole window. Your return label ships already packed inside the box. There's nothing to request and no 24-hour wait. Just pack the piece back up and drop it off by the return-by date shown in your account. Trip Plans don't carry a security deposit, so there's no hold to release when your return arrives. You can still buy out any piece from a Trip Plan instead of returning it. See the Buyout Policy.
